Book list of Service Design Thinking from HBXer Mike Oren

This is Service Design Thinking: Basics, Tools, Cases

Author: Marc Stickdorn, Jakob Schneider

Publisher: Wiley; 1 edition (January 11, 2012)

HBXer–Mike Oren’s Recommendation:

  • It was one of the most holistic but more academic.

***

Change by Design: How Design Thinking Transforms Organizations and Inspires Innovation

Author: Tim Brown

Publisher: HarperBusiness (September 29, 2009)

HBXer–Mike Oren’s Recommendation:

  • Change by Design I believe was written by the folks at IDEO (Jingning Ao: Yes! The author Tim Brown is the CEO and President of IDEO) and is one of the more accessible ones. These are mostly focused on physical services and I augmented it when teaching with some paper of SaaS service design work (I’d need to look those up).

***

Thinking in Systems: A Primer

Author: Donella H. Meadows

Publisher: Chelsea Green Publishing (December 3, 2008)

HBXer–Mike Oren’s Recommendation:

  • I also highly recommend Thinking in Systems (I actually argue systems thinking is more important than design thinking in the new data heavy tech world) and The Answer is Obvious* Once You Know the Answer. Also Thinking Fast, Thinking Slow.

***

Everything Is Obvious: *Once You Know the Answer
